Mario E Valderrama is a lawyer, an independent domestic and international arbitrator with experience in many aspects of arbitration, a mediator and an educator. 

He is currently the General Counsel of the Construction Industry Arbitration Commission. 

He graduated valedictorian and magna cum laude in 1982 with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Far Eastern University Institute of Law. 

He started teaching law in 1983 immediately after passing the 1982 Philippine Bar Examination wherein he placed 12th. From there, he went on to be resource speaker in already innumerable educational events, both local and international.   

He regularly sits as sole arbitrator, chair of the tribunal or member of the tribunal, in institutional and ad hoc arbitrations, international arbitrations with seats outside the Philippines, on disputes wherein the law of the contract as well as the law of the arbitrations are laws other than Philippine law and lex mercatoria, as well as in domestic arbitrations.  

His other experience in arbitration ranges from serving as a legal expert witness in an international arbitration; as party representative in arbitrations, domestic and international and counsel in charge of the file in PDRCI arbitrations. 

In Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR/mediation), he served as mediator in several mediation proceedings involving cases appealed to the Court of Appeals as well as intellectual property disputes in the Intellectual Property Office (IPO).

Atty. Valderrama is the President Emeritus of the Philippine Institute of Arbitrators. He is an MCLE Lecturer on ADR and Arbitration in the MCLE for lawyers, from its inception and up to the present.
